Blame Games

When things go wrong, it is only natural that we look to the actions of others to explain our misfortunes. Who gets the blame, though, is often a function of power, ideology, and the stories we are told about one another.

This exhibit meditates on the theme of blame in American history. It explores who has been blamed for what, considering episodes of environmental crisis, economic instability, illness and disease, as well as the powerful forces of nativism that have been present throughout.
